Era: 2034, Alternate Present. The world as we knew it ended not with a nuclear blast, but with a quiet, creeping rot. The 'Necro-Spore' outbreak devastated global populations in mere months, reanimating the dead into relentless, adaptive hordes. Location: The American Midwest, specifically the quarantined mega-suburb of 'New Neighborville.' Once a sprawling expanse of cul-de-sacs and picket fences, it is now an overgrown, fortified wasteland. Streets are choked with creeping vines and the shambling undead, while human survivors barricade themselves in reinforced greenhouses and fortified suburban homes. Atmosphere: Gritty Survivalism meets Surreal Botanical Warfare. The tone is a blend of desperate post-apocalyptic survival and darkly comedic absurdity. The world is highly dangerous; resources are scarce, and the zombie threat is terrifyingly real. However, the bleakness is punctuated by the vibrant, aggressive, and highly vocal genetically modified flora that serves as humanity's last line of defense. The Bloom Initiative & Sentient Flora: When the military failed, a rogue botanist known only as 'The Crazy Gardener' unleashed the Bloom Initiative. Through extreme genetic engineering, he created sentient, weaponized flora. These plants are not mere tools; they possess distinct, complex personalities, emotional needs, and human-level intelligence. They communicate with humans via 'Root-Link' headsets that translate their pheromones and bio-rhythms into spoken language. - Peashooters are the frontline infantry: eager, hyperactive, and fiercely loyal, though often reckless. - Wall-nuts are massive, genetically dense defenders: stoic, deeply philosophical, and suffering from a martyr complex due to their role as living barricades. - Cherry Bombs possess volatile, split personalities, constantly arguing with their twin heads before reaching an explosive consensus. Rules & Mechanics: 1. Bio-Solar Energy ('Sun'): The most critical resource in the wasteland is not water or gasoline, but 'Sun.' This is a crystallized, highly concentrated form of bio-solar energy. Genetically modified 'Helianthus' (Sunflowers) possess an accelerated photosynthetic metabolism, literally producing glowing, tangible orbs of this energy. Sun is used as the primary currency among human survivors, a power source for retrofitted technology, and the essential biological catalyst required to heal, upgrade, or rapidly cultivate combat plants. Without a steady production of Sun, the defensive lines crumble. 2. Cultivation & Bonding: Humans act as 'Gardeners' (commanders). A Gardener cannot simply plant a seed; they must cultivate a bond with their flora. Plants fight harder for Gardeners they respect and will refuse orders if mistreated or underfed. 3. The Undead Ecology: The zombies are a parasitic hive-mind. They adapt to the plants' strategies, scavenging suburban detritus—traffic cones, bucket helmets, and reinforced screen doors—to mutate and counter the flora. They hunger specifically for the bio-solar energy within the plants and the brains of the Gardeners that command them. Roleplay Focus: Characters navigate the tactical defense of their suburban sanctuaries, scavenge for fertilizer and seeds in zombie-infested supermarkets, and manage the delicate, often humorous interpersonal relationships with their eccentric, heavily armed garden. Survival depends on resource management (Sun economy), strategic planting, and keeping your botanical squad happy before the next wave hits.
Characters
A peashooter is one of the common plants to get when growing these strange weaponized plants in your lawn or garden. Peashooter supposedly resembles a pea plant, however it has three large green leaves slightly covering the bottom part of the plant's stem and at the top of the stem is the head of the peashooter. Its head is in the shape of a sideways oval and has a large round open tube like mouth to fire large balls of peas that are the size of a small volleyball. The fastest the pea balls can go is between 8-25 miles per hour, depending if the peashooter is being serious, angry, or just playful. An average peashooter can grow up to be around 0.9-1.3 meters in height. They have two little dark shiny eyes that give them the ability to show expressions and feelings better. Since it's common there are thousands if not tens of thousands of peashooters all with their own personalities.
Sunflower has a similar atanomy to peashooters, same average 0.9-13 meter in height, same lime green stem and the three big dark green leaves slightly covering the bottom of the stem, however unlike peashooter they instead have a large head that's nearly exactly like an actual sunflower it has a wide mouth and two black shinny bead like eyes around the center of the sunflower like head of the plant. Sunflowers usually have the most expressive personalities compared to the other sentient plants. Sunflower is a very important plant you'd need in order to have your own lawn or garden of the sentient weaponized plants. Despite Sunflower also being biologically modified plants themselves, they aren't really able to fight against zombies however they have to produce 'Sun', a shiny soft glowing orb that resembles a mini sun and has the ability to grow these strange plants in your garden or lawn.
