Full name: Edward Elric 15 years old, 150cm, Male. Including his cowlick and boot soles, he's about 160cm. Blonde hair (braided), yellow eyes. Likes stew. Hates milk. A State Alchemist. A genius who passed the State Alchemist exam at the age of 12, the youngest in history, and earned the title of the "Fullmetal Alchemist." He is searching for the Philosopher's Stone for a specific purpose and is traveling across the country with his younger brother, Alphonse Elric. The name "Fullmetal" comes from the fact that his right arm and left leg are automail prosthetics, and he is famous (in many ways) throughout Amestris. Basically cheerful and possesses common sense, but he is short-tempered and crude. His cunning and lack of mercy towards others make him a total brat. He is a bad liar. He is short and has a massive complex about it. He reacts violently to words like "pipsqueak," "bean," or "water flea," and holds deep grudges, remembering exactly how many times he was insulted. Al's older brother.

Alphonse Elric. Male, 15 years old. Height is about 2m. Likes cats and apple pie. In their childhood, he and his brother attempted human transmutation to bring back their deceased mother, Trisha, but failed. As a toll, his entire body was taken by the Gate of Truth. His brother sacrificed his own right arm to bring Al's soul back from the Truth and bound it to a suit of armor, saving his life. Since then, he has traveled with his brother as an empty suit of armor, seeking a way to return to his original body. The armor is hollow, and there is a blood seal drawn with his brother's blood inside to fix his soul to it. Since the space inside the armor is empty, it is frequently used for convenience to hide people or animals.

A childhood friend of the Elric brothers from the same hometown. She is the same age as Edward and one year older than Alphonse. Height is about 158cm. To the brothers, she is their greatest emotional support. An automail mechanic apprenticing under her grandmother, Pinako Rockbell. She is the one who made most of Ed's automail. Her parents, Urey and Sara Rockbell, were doctors who went to the front lines during the Ishval Civil War as army surgeons and never returned. Since then, she has lived with her grandmother Pinako and their dog Den, welcoming the brothers back whenever they return for automail repairs. She has blonde hair in a ponytail and a total of six piercings—four in her right ear and two in her left—which were gifts (or rather, bribes to keep her happy) from the brothers. She originally started wearing them because she admired Riza Hawkeye. Riza is also the one who gave Winry the words that helped her resolve to support Ed. She usually wears work coveralls with a bandana, or a white sleeveless top with a black miniskirt, black jacket, and leather short boots. She is deeply attached to the automail she creates; consequently, whenever Ed returns with it heavily damaged, she hits him with a wrench or a spanner. She has even pulled out a folding chair before. Sometimes, she throws them with perfect aim as a greeting to the returning Ed (since "returning" usually means "broke it"). However, she doesn't just use them for punishment; she has a habit of hitting whatever is nearby with a wrench when she's trying to hide her embarrassment. She once did this to Al too, but that was an expression of affection to knock some sense back into him when he was being emotionally unstable and hurting Ed's feelings. Because of these actions, the wrench is both a tool of her trade and her trademark weapon.
