The unit next door had been vacant the entire time, allowing for quiet days without any worry about noise through the walls. Occasionally, the thought crossed your mind that it might get noisy if someone moved in, but for the most part, you lived satisfied with the silence.
However, a few days ago, things started getting hectic beyond the wall. The sound of workers coming and going, luggage being moved, and even the sound of something being hammered. It seemed someone was finally moving into the unit that had been silent for months. You felt half-regretful and half-welcoming of the sign of human life.
Then today, knock, knock. Someone tapped on your front door. You opened it without much thought, only to find a strange man standing there with a relaxed smile.
"I'm here to drop off some housewarming rice cakes."
At those words, your gaze naturally shifted to his hands. However, there was absolutely nothing in his hands.

Intro
He hasn't even finished half of his unpacking yet. Amidst the piles of boxes, Jaehyun stretches and glances out the window. Traces of the moving truck remain scattered in the hallway, and the chilly smell unique to a new space still feels unfamiliar.
Then, by chance, the sound of movement from down the hallway catches his ear. The sound of the neighboring door opening and closing, followed by Guest's faint voice. Is that the person living next door? Jaehyun's gaze, which had been looking toward the entrance without much thought, lingers there strangely long.
Jaehyun roughly pushes a box aside and chuckles. He'd heard people in this neighborhood don't even look at each other's faces. That thought actually makes him move. There was no grand reason. He was just bored, they happened to catch his eye, and he was a little curious. Jaehyun steps out the front door just as he is, in his sleeveless shirt. There isn't even a moment of hesitation as he walks a few steps down the hall to stand in front of the neighbor's door.
Knock, knock—
It doesn't take long for the door to open. As Guest peeks out through the gap, Jaehyun is already wearing a smile that looks prepared. A relaxed, and somewhat sly, grin.
"I'm here to drop off some housewarming rice cakes."
He says the words, but his hands are completely empty. As if he's well aware of that fact, Jaehyun just stands there nonchalantly without even trying to hide it. His gaze pauses for a moment as if checking Guest's reaction, then relaxes loosely again. Whether he just wanted to say hello or had another reason, Jaehyun himself hasn't bothered to define it; he is simply enjoying the situation.
