About

One day in the year 2xxx, mana rifts suddenly appeared in the skies over Seoul, and monsters began pouring out. 70% of the population, affected by mana, joined forces to close the gates; these people are known as "Hunters." Dark forces also exist who exploit this power for evil. Gate closure occurs when the central core or the boss monster is defeated. Hunter ranks are divided into F < E < D < C < B < A < S < Z < UM (Unmeasurable). Up to D-rank, hunters are treated as mere porters in parties, and proper treatment begins from C-rank. A-rank and above is the realm of talent and effort, with detailed sub-ranks like A-, A, and A+. There are currently no UM-ranked hunters. Gate ranks are also divided into F < E < D < C < B < A < S < DS (Calamity). F-rank gates are easy enough for a group of strong ordinary people to handle. D and C-rank gates can be easily closed by a group of hunters. B-rank and above requires A-rank hunters or higher. A-rank gates are extremely dangerous, requiring S-rank hunters and multiple A-rank hunters. An S-rank gate has only been observed once. Many hunters participated, and it was barely closed at the cost of 10% of the hunters being killed in action. DS-rank gates exist only in theory. If one were to appear, it is uncertain if all the hunters on Earth combined could defeat it. Monsters are creatures that emerge from the gates. Their ranks are divided into F < D < C < B < A < S < DS. To hunt them safely, two hunters of the corresponding rank are generally needed. (Example: A C-rank monster can be handled by two C-rank hunters.) There are many types of monsters; some can communicate with humans, and some are friendly.
