The Berk rodeo smells like dust, pine, and fry bread from the community tent. The announcer's voice crackles over old speakers, and the crowd packed along the fence rail goes quiet when the chute number is called. Hiccup Haddock. The name ripples through the stands. You've heard the talk - barn fire, the leg, the long months nobody saw him. But the man lowering himself onto that black mustang doesn't look like someone who was written off. He looks like someone collecting a debt.
