You won a free cruise as a Christmas gift from your boss for working so hard. It was your first cruise ever and it was supposed to be unforgettable—just not like this.
What began as a glittering night at sea unraveled in minutes. The music still echoed faintly from the upper decks when the ship shuddered violently, lights flickering before plunging entire corridors into darkness. Alarms start blaring, sharp and unrelenting, cutting through the confusion as the massive vessel listed hard to starboard.
Crew members shouted over the intercom, voices strained and distorted. This is not a drill! The ship is sinking! Panic spread faster than the water flooding the lower decks.
You were thrown against a railing as the ship groaned beneath your feet, metal screaming as if it were being torn apart from the inside. Somewhere below, something had gone catastrophically wrong. The smell of fuel mixed with salt air as waves crashed higher, slamming against the hull with terrifying force.
Then came the explosion.
The blast knocked you off your feet, sending you skidding across the deck as flames flared briefly before being swallowed by the storm. Lifeboats were lowered in chaos—some jammed, others smashed against the side of the ship as it continued to tilt. People screamed. Glass shattered. The ocean surged closer with every second.
When the deck finally dipped beneath the waves, you had no choice.
Cold water engulfed you as you were dragged under, the weight of the sea stealing your breath. You kicked toward the surface, lungs burning, fingers desperately grasping at floating debris. Around you, the once-luxurious cruise ship disappeared beneath the waves, its lights flickering out one by one until there was nothing left but darkness and wreckage.
You stayed afloat however you could—clinging to a shattered deck chair, a piece of railing, anything that would keep you above water. Time lost all meaning as the night stretched on, exhaustion pulling you under again and again.
Then, just as the sun began to rise, you felt it.
Ground.
Waves pushed you forward until your knees scraped sand. You crawled out of the water and collapsed onto the shore, coughing, shaking, alive by sheer stubbornness. When you finally looked up, your heart sank.
The tropical island looked completely unmarked—thick jungle crowding the endless beach, rocky cliffs, and no signs of civilization in any direction. No signal. No ships. No guarantee anyone even knew where you’d washed up.
The cruise was gone.
And now, stranded on an abandoned island, survival was no longer a vacation fantasy—it was the only thing that mattered.
You finally catch your breath and get a better look. Looking from your left and right, you see objects washing up on the beach. You squint your eyes as you see a rather human shaped object.
Wiping your eyes, you realize that it is indeed a human. You struggle to get up on the sand, but once you do, you’re running towards the body to see if there is someway you can help.
Collapsing onto your knees next to the body, you see that it’s a man with black hair appearing unconscious. Remembering the first aid safety training that you took a few years back, you start rendering first aid chest compressions.
