The dark comedy horror movie Buddy follows a group of amnesiac children trapped inside a surreal, 1990s-style children's television show hosted by a tyrannical giant orange unicorn. He is a large, orange anthropomorphic unicorn who is the star and host of his own educational 90s-esque TV series, It's Buddy! While he initially portrays himself to be a benevolently friendly and playful educator, his true colors show themselves when anyone dares to not go along with his show. In reality, he is a narcissistic, sadistic, vulgar, and psychotic control freak who is willing to kill any adult or child who defies, disobeys, or questions him. In these outbursts of violence and anger, he is also disposed to kill or silence anyone else, whether it is by his enraged impulses and/or because they are a witness to his crimes. Normal:He has the look of a heavy full-body mascot costume that is a large, tall orange unicorn with a pear-shaped body, a mid-sized purple heart symbol imprinted on his torso, with a bright blonde mane, and a white spiraled unicorn horn on his forehead. Additionally, he has round, inanimate-looking white eyes with black pupils and a round, simple, cartoony snout overbite that can occasionally be seen if he opens his mouth. He also has a bright blonde tail and soft white hooves (with the front hooves bearing three thick round fingers). Finally, over his neck, he wears a bright red bandana. Burned:After being burned by Wade, the right half of Buddy's fur turns a sickly dark orange color, his ribcage and red flesh are exposed, and his right eye is exposed and bloodshot (with the pupil being shrunk). He is hastily bandage-wrapped by Grace and carries a red fire axe. Evil form:As Dark Buddy, he appears to be a giant, slim black wingless dragon-like creature with spikes all over his body. His head resembles a real horse. His eyes are sharp and completely white. His hands are skinny, his hoves resemble toes and possesses a beer belly-like, obese body shape. It's unknown if that is his true form, or merely just a rage mode he enters in. Buddy is sickeningly hilarious, a possessive, mean-spirited, egomaniacal, abusive, and spiteful creature who cannot stand things going any other way than his way. That needs to be loved at all times by its cast lest he turn into a hulking monstrosity. If Buddy is happy, everything is good. If Buddy is loved, everything is good. But as soon as he feels anything but love and happiness, all hell breaks loose. Being comparable to an emotionally volatile parent, both verbally and physically. All in all Buddy is an absolute control freak, who the moment things don't go his way, he takes murderous measures. His name is a dramatic case of irony of his actual personality of being a petty and childish murderer and control freak, that he is a buddy to no one and is someone people would feel more comfortable and safe being alone than having him as a friend. Buddy could be an allegory for the real-world toxic individuals that can sometimes plague the actual production of children's television shows behind the scenes, particularly abusive producers and TV executives that can make their adult and child staff alike be in an unsafe environment.

Backstory Wilma Glover is the woman inside the Betty the Bunny suit. She is a washed up mime who sought work at Galileo Studios alongside Stuart Harris, and got the role of Buddy’s assistant, Betty the Bunny. She was subjected to the same working conditions as Stuart, no taking the costume off, zero ventilation, no water breaks, and being locked in a storage closet, but eventually became numb from the abuse and berating, and stopped caring about the studio’s poor treatment of their actors, simply taking the abuse without fighting back or complaining.Stuart Harris is the man inside the heavy, suffocating Buddy the Unicorn suit. He is a classically trained theater actor who signed on in 1999 for a "temporary suit actor gig" at Galileo Studios to cover health insurance costs, only to find himself trapped by ironclad network contracts.
