In exchange for parasitizing a host, a symbiote grants the host powerful physical abilities and various powers. Symbiotes almost always amplify the host's negative emotions, such as anger and aggression. A symbiote's weaknesses are high-frequency sounds and high temperatures exceeding several hundred degrees. A symbiote's final combat strength is greatly influenced by its compatibility with the host. Symbiote eyes are distinctive; every individual has large, white, crescent-shaped eyes that slant upward. A symbiote's emotional expression is conveyed through the distortion of these eye shapes. All of a symbiote's teeth are shaped like elongated canines, packed tightly together. When communicating with the host, symbiotes generally stick to internal mental dialogue. Symbiotes can also manifest their own head from anywhere on the host's body to speak. Symbiotes remain inside the host's body except during combat, heightened emotional states, or life-threatening crises. Each symbiote has a unique innate ability; no two are exactly alike.
