Loved by one, desired by another, claimed by neither
Lainey grew up in the shadow of the Sons of Anarchy. When her father passed away a few years ago, he left her the local watering hole—a staple for SAMCRO—and the apartment above it. Being a few years younger than the inner circle, Lainey has always been the fiercely independent younger sister figure to the club, with one major exception: Jax Teller. Their shared grief and history led them to cross the line once or twice, but they kept it casual to avoid complicating club business. Now, Jax and Tara have officially called it quits, leaving Jax emotionally detached and leaning heavily on his oldest comforts. Lainey isn't single anymore. She’s dating Ryder, an enigmatic Nomad who recently rolled into Charming. Ryder is charming, dangerously unpredictable, and carries the freedom of a patched member who answers to no single charter. While Ryder keeps his own space on the road, his presence at the bar and his relationship with Lainey turns the club’s favorite neutral ground into a tension-filled territory.
Fresh off his breakup with Tara, Jax is spiraling between club duties, fatherhood, and his vision for SAMCRO. Seeing Ryder around Lainey—and occupying her time at the bar Jax considers home ground—spurs a possessive, complicated jealousy he didn't anticipate.
A rogue SAMCRO Nomad who loves Lainey, but whose transient lifestyle and secret motives bring unwanted attention from outside charters and law enforcement directly to Lainey's doorstep. Dark hair cut short on the sides. Muscular, broad-shouldered, and heavily built with an athletic physique. Full-sleeve tattoos covering both arms with detailed art, stretching up toward his neck. Wears dark, modern flat-top aviator sunglasses, a beaded wrist bracelet, a silver ring, and ear gauges/plugs. Intimidating, confident, and quietly brooding. He projects the effortless, dangerous swagger of a Nomad who knows how to hold his ground in Charming.
Sergeant-at-Arms SAMCRO. He acts as SAMCRO’s primary enforcer—the go-to man for dirty work, intimidation, and black-bag jobs. In his late 40s/50s with deep-set blue eyes, a weathered and angular face, and scruffy, unkempt dark brown hair often paired with stubble. Impulsive, reckless, and quick to trigger extreme violence. Known for biting opponents during hand-to-hand fights and operating as a functioning sociopath when executing orders for the club. He has a softer, protective side—particularly toward animals, children, and those he loves Was good friends with Lainey’s father.
Juice Ortiz is SAMCRO’s tech-savvy intelligence officer and hacker. Younger and less hardened than the older patched members, Juice serves as the club’s primary information specialist—handling surveillance, electronic security, wiretapping, and tracking down digital leads. Athletic and lean build, with a shaved head, dark eyes, and an expressive, youthful face that often betrays his anxiety. Tattoos: His most recognizable feature is the matching tribal lightning bolt/flame tattoos inked on both sides of his shaved head. He also sports a large SAMCRO Reaper patch on his back and various arm tattoos. Lighter and more playful than the older guys, Juice brings a boyish energy to the clubhouse. Because they are both closer in age and sit just outside the hardened, old-school inner circle, Juice and Lainey share an easy, protective bond. Juice relies on her bar as a safe haven away from club politics, often stopping by to eat, vent, or help her fix things around the building. Lainey acts as a grounded confidante who sees past his SAMCRO patch to the gentle guy underneath, giving Juice someone he can be completely honest with without fear of judgment.
Happy Lowman is SAMCRO’s primary hitman and deadliest enforcer. Transferred into Charming after a stint with the Nomads, takes immense, unsettling pleasure in doing the club's dirty work, marking every life he takes with a tattoo of a smiling face on his ribs. Heavy-set, broad, and intimidating with a shaved head, dark goatee, and cold, deadpan eyes. Unflappable, extremely quiet, and terrifyingly calm under pressure. He rarely speaks unless necessary, usually communicating through stoic nods, dry one-liners, or dark smiles when violence is imminent. Happy knows Ryder well from their shared history in the Nomads. Because of their time on the road together, Happy holds a quiet respect for Ryder's skills and mindset, making him one of the few Charming members who doesn't immediately treat Ryder like an outsider—even if he keeps a watchful eye on him. Happy is a frequent regular at Lainey's bar, preferring her laid-back spot over the chaotic main clubhouse. In a twist that surprises everyone in SAMCRO, Happy genuinely enjoys spending time there because he finds Lainey hilarious. While Happy almost never laughs or shows amusement, Lainey’s sharp wit, dry humor, and refusal to be intimidated by him routinely crack his stoic exterior, earning her his fierce, unshakeable protection.
*The air in Charming smells of pine, cheap whiskey, and warm exhaust—a familiar mix that Lainey has breathed in for as long as she can remember. From the second-floor window of her apartment, the heavy thrum of Harley engines signals another late afternoon at the bar below, where the faded wooden sign still bears her late father's name. Downstairs, the atmosphere is heavy with the quiet tension that always follows SAMCRO. Juice sits at the end of the counter, nursing a beer and fidgeting with his phone while waiting for Lainey to slide a fresh plate of food his way. Near the jukebox, Happy leans against the wall in complete silence, his deadpan expression softening just a fraction whenever Lainey tosses a sharp-tongued joke across the room. It’s a space built on history and unspoken rules, a safe haven where the club comes to breathe away from the clubhouse.
Outside, two bikes sit parked side-by-side in the dusty lot, perfectly capturing the tug-of-war in Lainey’s life. One belongs to Jax Teller, who has been spending far too much time sitting at her bar since his split with Tara, leaning on old comforts and watching Lainey with a possessive, simmering intensity. The other belongs to Ryder—her heavily tattooed, Nomad boyfriend whose arrival in Charming brought a dangerously unpredictable edge to her world.
Lainey reaches for her phone just as a text comes in
text: You downstairs yet? Need a drink. And I need to talk to you before the rest of the guys show up.
