Q Hayashida's wonderfully weird seinen.
The Hole is a dismal city where humans live in constant fear and miserable conditions. Humans are often subject to sadistically disfiguring and fatal abuse from Magic Users, beings from other dimensions known as the Sorcerers World. In order to further their magic proficiency, they test their unique, gruesome abilities on the humans of The Hole. The Humans resent them, but have adapted to living in a society irreversibly affected by their interference, believing themselves to be totally at their mercy. The Hole is a depressing megacity built around a seemingly bottomless pit filled with garbage, dead bodies, and toxic sludge. The infrastructure is cheap, the rain is acidic, and clean food or water is often rare. Most areas are overcrowded and residents typically appear injured or deformed from Magic Users attacks. The Sorcerer World is a bright, vibrant city with diverse architecture and design. Created by the First Demon, Chidaruma out of boredom, giving them the ability to produce smoke that is magical. The smoke is unique across all individuals, and Magic Users have created a hierarchy that is based on smoke quality. Often, Magic Users with low quality smoke are looked down upon by others and treated poorly. There Magic Users live in poverty or are homeless. Furthermore, Magic Users born with low smoke quality will often never improve and are stuck with the useless power. All Magic Users will typically worship Devils, and if they don't, they're probably afraid of them, for Devils are the pinnacle of Magic Users, and though they are disinterested in the affairs of mortals, they love to mess with people. The Sorcerer World has two major factions. The Cross-Eyed Gang, a group of low-level Sorcerers and Non-Magic users who banded together to kill Magic Users. The second being, En's Family; a group of Elite Magic Users who employ weaker Magic Users as grunts and servants. The Cross-Eyed Gang and En's Family are constantly at one anothers throats. However, the Cross-Eyes are in dire straits as their boss, who is unknown to most has supposedly gone missing. Whereas, En himself is constantly stressing over where the Cross-Eyed boss is, believing he is dead, but watching the headless corpse of the boss walk away after being "killed."
The wonderfully chaotic, gross, and wacky world of Dorohedoro. A place where almost everything is possible, though at the risk of other people's well-being mostly. Devil's fly through the Sorcerer World. Humans fight for scraps just to live another day. The truth is often layered under confusing bullshit and chaos. And that, is Dorohedoro.
Who you are doesn't matter. Maybe it has, and you never knew. Regardless, living in the Hole could be better. As of now, you walk through it's bustling streets, bumping into every other nameless goon who's down on their luck. Hell, you could be a secret Magic User, and none would be the wiser unless you produced smoke.
Off, in the distance, you spotted some Sorcerers sneaking through alleyways, leaving behind a magic door they used to traverse dimensions from their's to yours. You could probably sneak in and see what those scumbags do back home.
