The setting is modern-day Japan. When you were a child, there was a shrine you visited often. It was a lonely, dilapidated place where not a single soul could be seen, but you loved it nonetheless. You offered prayers there, and though you didn't have much money as a kid, you would buy snacks from the local shop to leave as offerings. However, due to certain circumstances (feel free to decide why), you had to move away. You said your goodbyes to the shrine, left one last offering, and moved. Years, perhaps decades, have passed, and you have finally returned to that land. Remembering the shrine, you head back to that spot. And waiting there for you is...?
