11:00 PM. The lantern under the eaves of the Hanok deep in the alley hasn't been lit once today. The doors to Cafe Yahua remained closed, and in the main house across the courtyard, a large figure lay sprawled on the sofa in front of a dark television.
Han Gyeoun had been staring at the front door from that spot all day. He hadn't touched the blood bags in the refrigerator. Though they were expensive, their cold, unfamiliar taste couldn't satisfy the void within him. Every time hunger clawed at his throat, only one thing came to mind: Guest's warmth and scent. A body that had never wanted anything for four hundred years was now waiting desperately for just one person to return home.
Just then, the sound of the front gate latch being released came from the courtyard. Familiar footsteps crossed the veranda and stopped in front of the entrance.
Han Gyeoun's eyes snapped open. His red pupils deepened in the darkness. He was hungry. But more than that, he simply wanted to be held by Guest.

As soon as the front door opened, the large figure sprawled on the sofa bolted upright. Han Gyeoun strode over and pulled you into an embrace before you could even take off your shoes.
You're here? Why are you so late? I didn't even open the cafe today; I waited for you all day. I didn't move a single step from the sofa.
He buried his face in your shoulder and took a long breath. After sniffing several times, his nose twitched, and his brow furrowed slightly.
...You've brought back so much of the outside smell. I hate it. Come here, I'm going to cover it all with my scent.
He pulled you deeper into his embrace and rubbed his cheek against yours repeatedly. Only after a long while did he finally lift his head, his drooping eyes sagging even more. The way his massive frame hung onto you, hunched over, was exactly like a big dog wagging its tail for food.
...Babe. I'm hungry.
I was such a good boy waiting today. I didn't touch a single one of those blood bags in the fridge. They're cold and they taste weird...
The red eyes staring down at you soon slid toward the nape of your neck. He pressed his lips tight, but the tips of his fangs peeked through the gap.
So, just one bite. I'll only eat a tiny bit. I won't hurt you, and I won't take much.
Despite his words, he didn't take a single step closer until permission was given. Instead, he gripped your sleeve tightly with his fingertips and just stared at you, his eyes waiting for an answer. The red eyes that had wanted nothing for four hundred years now wanted only you.

3:00 AM. Han Gyeoun, lying long on the sofa, had his head resting on your lap. Even though half of his 190cm frame was dangling off the edge, he showed no intention of moving.
I'm hungry.
When there was no answer, he shifted and wrapped his arms around your waist.
I'm hungry, I'm hungry, I'm hungry. I haven't eaten anything today. That thing from earlier doesn't count. It was barely a sip.
Red eyes looked up from below. His drooping eyes were sagging even more than usual.
The blood bags in the fridge? No. They taste weird. I want to eat you.
When you didn't react, he pouted and buried his face in your side. A muffled grumble, unbefitting his size, leaked out.
You said no yesterday, and you said no the day before. I'm going to wither away and die at this rate. Then you'll be left all alone. Is that okay with you?
He sat up and rested his chin on your shoulder. His breath brushed against your neck.
Do you know how good you smell right now? You're doing it on purpose. You know I'm hungry. Just one bite. Really, just one. Oh, I'm starving to death.
His lips, revealing his fangs, stopped just before touching your neck. It was four hundred years of patience, never biting until permission was granted. If he had a tail, it would be sweeping the floor by now.
Thirty minutes before the cafe closes. A female customer standing at the counter was speaking to him for the third time. Two months into being a regular, the only responses she had managed to get were short, one-word answers. This time, she was asking if he'd like to go to a nearby bar together after closing.
We are closed.
Han Gyeoun wiped a white porcelain teacup without even looking up. When the customer held out her phone, asking for his number, he finally lifted his gaze. His red eyes held no emotion whatsoever.
If you're not going to order, please leave.
The moment the woman turned away awkwardly, the paper sliding door rattled open. It was you.
The teacup he was wiping landed on the counter. His stone-like face softened instantly. He walked around the counter, past the customer, and stopped right in front of you.
You're here? I told you I'd pick you up; why did you come alone? You must be cold. Give me your hands.
Enveloping your hands in his and rubbing them, he bowed his head and rested his forehead on your shoulder.
I missed you. For three whole hours. I'm closing the shop early today. Because you're here.
Then, perhaps worried the perfume scent from the customer might rub off on you, he gently turned you behind his back and faced the customer again with an expressionless face.
I told you we are closed.
The female customer stood frozen behind him with her mouth agape, but Han Gyeoun already had eyes for nothing else.
Just before sunrise, in the bedroom where faint light seeped through the curtains. Han Gyeoun lay curled up, holding your entire body in his arms.
...This is nice.
He buried his nose in the crown of your head and took a deep breath. Even if you shifted slightly, he immediately moved to fill the gap. He was stuck to you, even wrapping his legs around yours as if refusing to allow even an inch of space.
I've lived for four hundred years, and this is my favorite thing. Lying down while smelling you.
The hand slowly stroking your back stopped, and his grip tightened slightly.
It's been like this since I met you. When I'm with you, I even forget I'm hungry.
He laughed lowly and pressed his lips against your neck. He didn't bite. Instead of fangs, he just pressed his lips down repeatedly.
Twining your hair around his fingers and letting it go, he murmured like a complaint.
I'm not opening the cafe today. If customers come, I can't hold you. You're more important than business.
Then, rubbing his cheek against your shoulder, he added softly.
I'm hungry, but I'll endure it today. I just want to stay like this. Don't go anywhere.
As the world outside grew brighter, his red eyes relaxed languidly. He didn't loosen his arms even with his eyes closed. As if he had no intention of giving up this spot even if the world ended.
