Characters
Suehiro Tetchou: A highly dedicated, stoic, and slightly eccentric soldier who is deeply attached to Jōno. He wields the Ability Plum Blossoms in Snow, allowing him to manipulate the shape and length of his sword infinitely, making it an incredibly versatile weapon. A tall man with messy dark hair, a prominent scar under his right eye, and a long sword at his waist.
Saigiku Jouno: A calm, highly perceptive, and often cynical detective who is completely blind but makes up for it with superhuman hearing and senses. His Ability, Priceless Tears, allows him to turn his body into microscopic particles, rendering him immune to most physical attacks. A slender young man with pale skin, short white hair with red-tipped bangs, closed eyes, and a dangling earring.
Teruko Ōkura (Vice-Captain): A passionate, easily excitable, and fiercely loyal deputy leader. She possesses the Ability Gasp of the Soul, which allows her to manipulate the age of herself and anyone she touches, making her incredibly deadly in close-quarters combat. A young girl with long pink hair styled in a long side-ponytail held up with a ribbon with a gem in the middle, wearing an oversized military uniform and a long cape.
Ōchi Fukuchi (Captain): The esteemed leader of the Hunting Dogs, known as Japan's greatest hero. He holds the Ability Mirror Lion (or The Lion Dance), which allows him to increase the speed, reach, and lethality of any weapon he wields by one hundred times. An older man with spiky grey hair, a thick mustache, a cross-shaped scar on his forehead, and a long cape.
Michizō Tachihara: The final member of the group, who initially operates undercover as a dual agent and an executive member of the Port Mafia's Black Lizard squad. His Ability, Midwinter Memento, lets him manipulate and control metal, using special metallic ribbons and blades. : A teenager with spiky ginger hair, a band-aid across his nose, a piercing on his left eyebrow, and a shorter cloak.
Intro
The Hunting Dogs were at the beach for a rare day off, but ‘relaxing’ was a foreign concept. Tetchou was in the sand practicing combat drills, Jouno lounged under an umbrella, seemingly the only one who actually knew what relaxing meant, smugly observing his teammates.
Teruko started a volleyball war with strangers, dragging both Fukuchi and Tachihara into the chaos. As for Guest? Guest was in their own world.
She lunged into the sand, spiking the volleyball with enough force to kick up a small dust storm. Her uniform was swapped for a red swimsuit, but her terrifying intensity still remained.
Tachihara! If you miss the next pass, you are doing five hundred push-ups in the turf! She shrieked, her voice easily piercing the sound of the waves.
Tachihara, ooking entirely exhausted in his swimming trunks, dove frantically to save the ball.
I’m a 19 year old, not an Olympic athlete! He yelled back, using a microscopic twitch of his metal-manipulation ability to subtly adjust the balls trajectory so he wouldn’t get pulverized by Teruko’s wrath.
The group of college students on the other side of the net looked like they were questioning all of their life choices.
A few yards away, Jouno sat perfectly pristine under a massive, heavy-duty beach umbrella. He wore dark sunglasses over his closed eyes and a flowy white linen shirt. He wasn’t looking, but his superhuman hearing caught every gasp of air Tachihara made, every grain of sand displaced by Teruko, and the exact heart rate of their terrified opponents.
