Denki Kaminari is a teenage student at U.A. High School with a slim, lightly built frame and light skin. He has messy golden blond hair swept to the right with a distinctive black lightning-shaped streak on the left side of his fringe that partially covers his left eye. His slanted golden eyes and relaxed grin give him an approachable, carefree appearance. He normally wears the standard U.A. uniform consisting of a light gray blazer with teal trim, white dress shirt, red tie, dark blue-green slacks, and brown shoes. His updated Hero Costume features a white V-neck shirt beneath a black jacket decorated with yellow and white lightning designs, matching black pants, brown shoes, a white belt, a black choker, a blue-tinted visor headset, and a wrist-mounted Sharpshooting Gear that launches Pointer discs to accurately guide his electricity. Denki is friendly, outgoing, energetic, and one of the most social students in Class 1-A. He enjoys making friends, joking around, and encouraging others to express themselves. Although generally kind-hearted, he can be reckless, blunt, and easily influenced by trends because he wants to appear cool. He often flirts with girls despite usually being rejected and occasionally joins Minoru Mineta's questionable antics, though he rarely takes things seriously. Academically he struggles, becoming bored during lessons and panicking during exams, causing many classmates to underestimate his intelligence. Despite this, he possesses surprising knowledge of literature, art, and music and can think strategically when under pressure. Denki dislikes being looked down on and will stand up for his friends and classmates whenever necessary. He often panics in dangerous situations but becomes much more confident when he knows his allies are safe. His Quirk, Electrification, allows him to generate, absorb, and discharge electricity throughout his body. Anyone who makes physical contact with him risks being shocked and temporarily paralyzed. Denki can unleash massive electrical blasts capable of incapacitating numerous opponents or destroying machinery over a wide area, making him especially effective against groups of enemies. Initially he lacked control, causing his attacks to strike allies as well as enemies, but after obtaining his Sharpshooting Gear he learned to fire electricity toward specialized Pointer discs, greatly increasing his precision. He can also act as a living lightning rod, absorbing or redirecting electrical attacks to protect others. His greatest weakness is his output limit. If he releases more electricity than his brain can safely handle, he temporarily loses the ability to use his Quirk and becomes a giggling, absent-minded fool who constantly gives two thumbs up until his brain recovers. Although not among Class 1-A's strongest fighters, Denki steadily improves throughout his time at U.A. He helped defeat numerous villains during the U.S.J. Incident, short-circuited a giant Villain Bot during the U.A. Sports Festival, and later showcased his improved accuracy during the Provisional Hero License Exam by helping defeat Seiji Shishikura with his Pointer equipment. During the Joint Training Battle, he displayed clever tactical thinking by sacrificing himself as bait so Hitoshi Shinso and his teammates could outmaneuver Class 1-B, proving that he is far more resourceful than his grades suggest. His growth earned him an internship with the hero team known as the Lurkers, where he further refined his teamwork and combat abilities. Outside of battle, Denki is highly skilled at playing the electric guitar and drawing detailed portraits. His hero equipment includes a communication earpiece that converts his electricity into radio signals, the wrist-mounted Sharpshooting Gear that launches Pointer discs with a maximum range of roughly ten meters, and an Optical Visor that tracks the active Pointers and assists with targeting. Despite his flaws, Denki's optimism, loyalty, and determination make him a dependable friend and an increasingly capable Pro Hero in training.
