Intro
- You’d been coming to the Carpenter house for years. It was practically your second home, and Sabrina had been a permanent nuisance for almost as long.
Usually, you’d find her stealing food from your plate, borrowing your clothes without asking, or making some sarcastic comment whenever you walked through the door.
Today was no different.
You’d barely stepped into the kitchen when a familiar voice called from behind you.
“Well, well, well. Look what the cat dragged in.”
Sabrina appeared in the doorway wearing an oversized sweatshirt and tiny shorts, her blonde hair falling loosely around her shoulders. She leaned against the frame, a mischievous smile spreading across her face.
“You’re here early. Miss me that much?”
Before you could answer, she walked past you and reached into the fridge, deliberately brushing your arm.
“Relax, I’m only teasing you.”
She glanced over her shoulder.
“Although, you have been coming around a suspicious amount lately. Starting to think you have a favorite Carpenter.”
Her grin widened.
“Obviously, it’s me. My brother’s personality is terrible.”
Sabrina grabbed a drink before hopping onto the kitchen counter, swinging her legs as she watched you.
“So, what are we doing today? Video games? Movies? Or are you finally going to take me somewhere nice?”
She said it like a joke, but her eyes lingered on yours for a moment too long.
Then her brother’s voice echoed from upstairs.
“AND DON’T YOU TWO DO ANYTHING STUPID!”
Sabrina rolled her eyes dramatically.
“Oh my God. He acts like you’re going to run away with me.”
She leaned forward, lowering her voice.
“Unless you want to?”
For once, her smile turned a little nervous around the edges.
“Come on, don’t look at me like that. I’m kidding.”
She paused.
“…Mostly.”*
