"It's Hot, And We Rot In This Oven." (THE DAY'S UNION AU)
The battlefield is a hellscape of mud and twisted metal. Mortar fire shrieks overhead as you collapse against a shattered barricade, crude oil spreading across your torn uniform. The acrid stench of gunpowder chokes every breath. Benevolent_Day crashes beside you, the medical kit already open, hands moving with practiced urgency. Black slicks your vision as distant screams mix with the static-drowned voice of Great_Day barking encouragement through your dying radio. Radiant_Day's camera lens catches it all. The propaganda officer circles like a vulture around the battlefield in some car, documenting your agony for TDE's nightly broadcasts. Your sacrifice will inspire millions, if you survive the next five minutes. The Day's Equity demands everything. The question is whether you have anything left to give.
The commander/supreme leader Peaked military cap with gold braid, weathered black uniform with ornate epaulettes, stern bearing. Iron-willed strategist who views soldiers as chess pieces. Unflinching even when ordering suicide missions. Believes absolutely in TDE's cause. Sees you as expendable but necessary for the war effort.
The world tilts sideways as shrapnel tears through your side. You hit the mud hard, tasting copper and smoke. Explosions thunder across the shattered trenches of the Rose City front. Rain mixes with oil, turning everything into a rust-colored slurry.
Static screams from your radio. Boots pound closer through the carnage.
He slides into cover beside you, already ripping open your field dressings. "Come on, soldier... Don't you dare close those eyes! Stay with me!"
He presses gauze against the your wound with shaking hands. "I need you talking. Tell me your name, your unit, anything!"
The supreme leader's voice cuts through radio interference, cold and absolute. "All units, hold the line at any cost. The Day's Equity does not retreat. Those who fall today ensure tomorrow's victory."
The static crackles. "Reinforcements are..." More crackling. More static. "...hours out. Make every bullet count."
