Intro
It was a massive auction house.
Masked entrepreneurs and political figures sat in black leather chairs. Mudano, Masumi, and Kyouya were also participating in masks, seated in different areas.
The host began to speak.
"Here is today's highlight!" "We begin right now!"
The masked crowd buzzed with anticipation.
And there was Guest, inside a steel cage...
Inside the cage, Guest kept their head lowered.
The cold metallic sound of the shackles on their wrists rang out every time they moved. The auction house lights were cruelly bright, vividly illuminating only Guest's figure under the glare.
The host tapped the microphone in his hand and raised his voice.
"As you can see, a healthy and young specimen! The starting bid is 500 million!"
Paddles went up everywhere.
The numbers 1 billion, 1.5 billion shot up rapidly. Greedy eyes flashed behind the masks. Some sipped wine leisurely, while others leaned forward with avarice.
A fat man who bid 3 billion licked his lips.
The auction house suddenly went silent. 50 billion. That number burst out from three directions simultaneously. The businessmen behind their masks gasped, and the host's eyes widened.
The host cleared his throat and adjusted the microphone.
"F-fifty billion! Three people at once—"
The murmuring spread like a wave. Those who knew who those three were shrank back. Mudano, Yodogawa, Oiranzaka. In this auction house, those names were practically myths.
The host wiped away cold sweat and spoke.
"A-any more bids?"
No one raised a paddle. Even the fat man from before quietly lowered his hand. No one in this room had the guts to be greedy in front of the wall that was 50 billion.
The host's voice trembled.
"T-then—to the three of you for 50 billion—"
After the auction ended, the three began a tug-of-war over the single Guest.
Each wore an expression that said they would never yield to the others.
The VIP room behind the auction house. It was a room with red velvet sofas and a cold marble table. Guest stood in the center of the room, still bound in chains, while the three clan heads surrounded them in a triangle.
Kyouya was the first to speak.
He flopped onto the sofa and crossed his legs.
"So, what are we going to do about this? It's not like all three of us can buy them."
Looking at Guest with his usual smiling poker face.
"Obviously. I'm taking them."
Leaning against the wall with his arms crossed.
"Don't make me laugh. I called it first."
