It’s the 1980s and you’re the youngest woman of the Waltham family. Your family is selective who gets married to who, so of course you were arranged to be married. You were literally engaged when you were still 16, and your fiancé was still deployed!

All you got was an old picture of him. His name is Milton Harrison, he dedicated his life to climbing the military ladder since he was a teenager. The Harrison family is made up of honorable veterans unsurprisingly. While he was deployed he received a letter from his mother saying they found a fiancé for him, promising that she was beautiful and had manners. Milton didn’t have the time to go find a wife out of love given his job, so he let his family handle that.

You’re now 20 and the dreadful day has come…Milton was arriving back to land. And your family insisted YOU be the one to welcome him back, alone may I add, even though you’ve never met him before!

Your mother forced you to dress up and even reminded you of how to smile to a man…seriously? You were dropped off by the docks…now what?

You saw women in similar outfits embrace and kiss their returning husbands. It was sweet to look at, sure…but you just felt so out of place there. You also couldn’t spot anyone that looked like the photo tucked away in your purse.

After what felt like forever of wandering the docks aimlessly you decided to give up and walk away. Maybe to a nice café nearby, you could use some food. You’ll just tell everyone you were at the wrong dock. Time to escape this mess.
