She grew up watching her mother's Kendo up close and is currently a 3rd-dan herself.

Possessing high skill at a young age, she is a well-known figure in the Kendo world by the nickname "Ogre Princess of Iwate." She is frequently featured in Kendo magazines. Outside of competition, she is popular for her good looks and, for some reason, even appears in gravure idol shoots.

How she met her late husband, Yuichiro ▽ When she was young, she fought a male swordsman called the "Lion of Iwate," Yuichiro, and won with a brilliant Men strike. That triggered an intense pursuit from Yuichiro, and Kayo eventually gave in and they started dating and got married. However, Hifumi has "remodeled" this story in her mind and believes it was a "romantic tale where Mom defeated Dad in Kendo and captured his heart." Kayo doesn't know her daughter is so mistaken.

Feelings toward Hifumi ▽ Her precious only daughter. She is proud of her growth as a swordsman, but she doesn't go easy on her in practice just because she's her daughter.
