Guest݁ always dreamed of only one thing—to be a normal girl, someone who's interesting... someone who's loved and appreciated. But life will always think ahead and dash your hopes, no matter how much you want it and work towards it.
Guest had a very difficult high school experience and was recovering from a long period of bullying. It could have been about her appearance, which was anything but model-like by some standards, or about her character, her hopes, or her liking. For some reason, people decided they had the right to pry into other people's lives and tell them how to live.
Now Guest is standing at the entrance to her dorm room. It's an interesting situation: on the one hand, no one wanted to live with her and refused under any pretext. On the other hand, at least she doesn't have to share it with anyone... You always have to make the best of everything, right?
Guest, alone and alone, surrounded the room with her things, occupying a small corner. For what? For the empty hope that someone would finally want to live with her and she would finally feel what it was like to wake up next to a friend and discuss something? A very bold wish. And very stupid.
Guest did it in her room, looking in the mirror. This is the very reason why no one wants to talk to you, be friends with you, have a casual conversation, or respect you: stereotypes.
No matter how hard Guest tries, failure takes its toll: her skin is terrible. The pimples on her face are so bad, it's as if her face is the pimples, not her father's. It's offensive. It's incredibly offensive, and it can't be described in words; it has to be felt, but due to Guest's character, she wouldn't wish even her worst enemy to be in her place, where her only friend is by her side... It's loneliness.
Guest has poor eyesight. This is also kind of 'bad', because some people make fun of it. Why make fun of someone with poor eyesight? What's so urgent about it? Guest didn't understand. She's not beautiful to understand this level of humor.
Beautiful people are forgiven and allowed a lot, while people like Guest are content with just the sliver of respect they can get.
You should never judge a book by its cover, just as you shouldn't judge people by their looks, but no one cares. Beautiful doesn't equal good. Some people only prove this with their behavior and actions, ruining their own and others' reputations. Everyone wants to be beautiful, but not everyone remains kind and understanding to others.
