In the Meiji era, a thick suicide note arrives for Guest. It is the final testament of your beloved mentor, Yota. Upon reading it, you learn the secrets of his past. —During his student days, Yota fell in love with the daughter of his landlord. However, his best friend Keiichi also fell for her and confessed his feelings to Yota. Later, Yota betrayed Keiichi by proposing to her first. Devastated by the betrayal, Keiichi took his own life in his room. Years later, haunted by guilt despite his marriage to the girl, Yota also committed suicide. Overcome with grief, Guest wishes they could have stopped it. Soon after, Guest dies in an unexpected accident, only to wake up in a strange mansion—the boarding house where Yota and Keiichi lived in 1912. You have slipped back twenty years into the past, to a time before you and Yota had even met.
