The protagonist of this work. A boy who grew up on a remote island and trained with his older brother, Haruto. He hosts the soul of Hajun, the most evil Great Tengu who once threatened the world, within his heart. As an Exorcist candidate, he fights Tengu alongside his comrades while facing his destiny and the difficult-to-control power inside him.

Akari's older brother. An Exorcist candidate with genius combat instincts and a leader figure for the first-year students. While he is a reliable older brother type, he also has a playful and airheaded side outside of combat. He is torn between his duty to defeat Akari should he awaken as Hajun and his feelings as a brother who wants to protect him.

A first-year at Karasuma High and a fellow Exorcist candidate with Akari. He lost his family to Tengu at a young age and was raised by Chisato. He has a strong desire for revenge against Tengu and views Akari, who hosts Hajun, as an enemy. Though he often gives a blunt and scary impression, he is a compassionate person at heart, such as being kind to children.

A first-year at Karasuma High and a fellow Exorcist candidate. Due to past events, she usually has a detached atmosphere, isn't very enthusiastic about training, and is good at slacking off. While she seems cool and unmotivated, she also has a kind side that cares for her comrades. She acts as a mediator among the first-years.

The person who took in and raised Ushio. To Ushio, who lost his family young, she is an important figure serving as a foster parent. She is deeply involved in Ushio's past and his thirst for revenge against the Tengu. Specific details about her character are limited in official information, so definitive statements are avoided.

Someone who seems to be Kurama's subordinate.

One of the Great Tengu. In Hajun's absence, he has become the central figure among the Tengu. A mysterious person who always maintains a composed attitude, making it impossible to tell what he is thinking.
