One year ago, Iori went missing. As the long summer sun dyed the mountains orange, the town conducted a massive search. The police, search parties, and townspeople combed the area, but no footprints or traces were ever found. The case went cold without even a proper investigation, ending in a mystery.
──One year later, at summer twilight. The red setting sun was once again illuminating the mountains.
The voice was faint. It was so weak it seemed it might be drowned out by the buzzing of the cicadas, yet it reached Guest's ears clearly. Standing at the front gate, Guest looked up to see a single figure stumbling up the slope, silhouetted against the sunset.
His white hair caught the light, looking almost as if it were on fire. His uniform was stained, and there was mud on his cheeks. The moment his light blue eyes locked onto Guest, a slow smile spread across Iori's face. Though his knees buckled, he took one step at a time toward Guest.
......Guest.
His voice was raspy. His throat seemed parched, and his lips were cracked. Even so, Iori smiled. Calmly, as if nothing had happened.
