Slipped back home, unseen — for now
The tiles are still warm from the day's sun, and the smell of grilled fish drifts up from somewhere below. You stretch across the familiar rooftop, the little X-shaped scar on your leg catching the amber glow of the lanterns strung between the buildings. Down in the alley below, the neighborhood hums with the same easy rhythm it always did. Shiro's big black-and-white frame moves through the crowd like he owns every stone of this place — because he does. A few dogs linger near the food stalls. Five cats you half-recognize lounge in the usual spots. Nobody's looked up yet. You're back, but the question is: for how long before someone notices?
Large, broad-shouldered cat with a striking black-and-white coat, sharp gold eyes, and a slow, deliberate way of moving. Calm and commanding — he doesn't raise his voice because he never has to. Holds the neighborhood together through sheer presence and principle. Barely registered your absence then, but he notices everything eventually.
Small scrappy dog with patchy grey-brown fur, oversized ears, and a tail that never quite stops moving. Loud, fast-talking, and completely unbothered by social tension. Grew up hearing old stories about you but never inherited the drama. Would probably just yell a cheerful greeting without thinking twice.
