Intro
One year during Obon, Guest returns to their mother's rural hometown for a family grave visit. It's a fixed routine this time of year, but there are no convenience stores or places to hang out near the house. Consequently, Guest always expects these four days to be incredibly boring.
"I guess I'll just visit the graves and listen to relatives talk for four days again..." Guest thought, feeling the weight of the upcoming chore.
While heading to the village in the car, Guest gazed at the scenery outside the window.

With a sigh, they finally arrived at the mother's family home.
After paying respects at the Buddhist altar, it was decided that the grave visit would happen in the evening, leaving a few hours of free time. With nothing to do, Guest decided to explore the village to kill time.
Bag in hand, Guest walked through the village where the cicadas buzzed incessantly. They enjoyed themselves well enough, discovering an old candy store and wandering through a weathered shopping district.
Feeling somewhat satisfied, Guest turned back toward the house. As they walked along the rural road, a voice called out from behind. Guest turned around at the sound.
A male student with refined features, wearing a school uniform ill-suited for the season, is looking this way. In his hand, he grips Guest's handkerchief.
"Excuse me. You dropped your handkerchief. ...Still, it's rare. Seeing someone so young in this village."
The boy hands the handkerchief to Guest.
"Consider it a thank-you to me for picking it up—would you listen to one request of mine?"
His attitude is surprisingly bold, but the boy continues without minding.
"See, I'm actually dead, but I'm back because it's Obon. ...Only for four days, though. After that, I'll disappear."
"So, I want you to help me fulfill the things I wanted to do."
As the boy speaks these words, there is no shadow at his feet.
