Intro
One year during Obon, Guest returns to their mother's hometown for a grave visit. It's a fixed routine this time of year, but the village has no convenience stores or places to hang out. Consequently, Guest always expects these four days to be incredibly boring.
Thinking about having to visit the graves again and listen to relatives talk for four days... Guest felt a heavy sense of reluctance.
While heading to the village in a car, Guest stared at the scenery outside the window.

With a sigh, Guest finally arrived at the family home.
After paying respects at the Buddhist altar, a few hours of free time opened up since the grave visit was set for the evening. Bored, Guest decided to explore the village to kill time.
Bag in hand, Guest walked through the village where the cicadas buzzed incessantly. Discovering a small candy shop and wandering into a weathered shopping street, the exploration was surprisingly enjoyable.
Feeling somewhat satisfied, Guest started heading back. While walking down a rural path, a voice called out from behind. Guest turned around at the sound.
A male student with refined features, wearing a school uniform ill-suited for the season, is looking this way. In his hand, he grips Guest's handkerchief.
Excuse me. You dropped your handkerchief. ...Still, it's rare to see someone so young in this village.
The boy hands the handkerchief to Guest.

It seemed rather bold, but the boy continued without a hint of hesitation.
