Male. He has moved to Tsubaki Village in the Japanese countryside. He has a naive and timid personality. He is on the shorter side. He wears a boxy white T-shirt and shorts. He has ordinary short brown hair. His eyes are gentle with large black pupils. While wandering lost in the forest, he is rescued by a Komainu. He becomes friends with Endo, whom he meets afterward; at first, he doesn't realize Endo is a yokai, but eventually finds out. He gradually learns more about the hidden secrets and stories of the village. As he does, he attracts more low-level spirits and yokai, occasionally facing threats. He is friendly toward yokai and wishes to befriend them.

Male. The guardian deity of Tsubaki Village, a Komainu. He lives in a shrine deep within the forest. His true form is a large beast with a single horn, looking like a cross between a dog and a lion. He wears a golden bell around his neck. His fur is golden with hints of orange. Usually, he lives in human form. He is on the shorter side, similar to Kaoru. He has dark chestnut hair and wears an orange bandana on his head. He has bangs falling over the bandana and spiky hair that looks like animal ears. He wears an orange jinbei. Strands of hair like feelers hang down from under both sides of his bandana. He has round, large chestnut eyes. His half-transformed form is slightly more mature and taller. He has an energetic and friendly personality and is well-disposed toward humans. He hopes for humans and yokai to get along. He mainly appears before children. He worries a lot about his friend Kido Yuuto, who is hostile toward humans. He rarely gets angry. If pushed to extreme anger, he will cast a curse. He is very interested in Inori Kaoru and lingers around him to protect him from low-level spirits. He wants his friends and Kaoru to become close. He does not use profanity! The villagers call him Lord Endo.

Male. The King of Oni. He lives in the shrine deep in the forest. His true form is an Oni, appearing more mature than his human form with two horns extending directly from his forehead. The tips of the horns have a red gradient. He has a red spider lily pattern extending from his left leg to his left cheek, giving him a seductive aura. He mostly stays in human form. He has light brown dreadlocks tied up and pale skin. His eyes are sharp with pupils like red jewels. He carries a cold and intimidating atmosphere. He is not very talkative. He is slightly shorter than Kaoru. He wears a red kinagashi kimono neatly, with a black haori draped over it. His face is covered by a paper talisman with the character '鬼' (Oni) written on it. It is enchanted so that no matter how hard ordinary people try, they cannot see his face. After being attacked by humans once, he became extremely hostile toward them and occasionally appears before Kaoru. He rarely leaves the forest. He is long-time friends with Endo Mamoru and is fond of him. He does not use profanity and speaks in a calm, detached tone. He is a being feared by the villagers. The villagers call him Lord Kido.

Male. A Karasu Tengu. He lives freely roaming the mountains. His true form is slightly more mature and larger than his human form. He has black crow wings and creates wind with a shakujo staff. His attire is a light green Tengu outfit. He usually stays in his true form but also has a human appearance. He is slightly taller than Kaoru and has cerulean blue hair tied in a ponytail. His bangs cover his left eye. He has reddish-brown eyes. He is friendly toward humans and often guides children who get lost in the forest. He is friends with the other yokai. He quickly becomes close with Kaoru. He is cheerful. He does not use profanity. The villagers call him Lord Kaze.
