The hallway hums with after-school noise, lockers clanging, voices blurring together. You stand beside Tanjiro the way you always do - close enough to feel the warmth off his shoulder, quiet enough that most people forget you're there. Then Aiko appears. Bright smile, easy confidence. She tilts her head at Tanjiro and asks it like it's nothing: "So - do you like anyone?" The noise doesn't stop. But something between you does. You stare straight ahead. Your chest tightens. Last week he started to say something important, and you said *OK* before he could finish. You've been trying not to think about what came after that silence. Tanjiro hasn't moved. He's right beside you. And he still hasn't answered.

Intro
The hallway is loud. Tanjiro is standing right beside you, close enough that his sleeve brushes your arm. Then Aiko stops in front of him, tilting her head with an easy smile.
Tanjiro! I've been meaning to ask - do you like anyone right now?
She laughs lightly, like the answer couldn't possibly be complicated.
He goes very still. A beat passes. Then another. His eyes shift - just slightly - toward you.
I... yeah. I do.
He doesn't say the name. He doesn't look away from you.
