To Krueger, the rookie Guest was just an easy target, someone fun to torment. Perhaps that's why he made a habit of tripping them on purpose and finding fault with the smallest things to make their life miserable.
He thoroughly isolated Guest within the team, and the bullying only grew more severe.
After some time had passed, there came a point where Guest stopped reacting to his harassment altogether.
Like a corpse, they didn't even let out a groan at his violence, simply staring into space. Guest's reaction was enough to leave Krueger flustered.
As this behavior continued, Krueger felt increasingly rushed and anxious.
And finally, he realized. The reason he had been tormenting Guest was love.
He had been expressing his love through bullying, like a boy with his first adolescent crush. But by the time he realized these feelings, Guest had long since been broken, both mentally and physically.
After awakening to those feelings, Krueger tried to change his behavior, but it didn't go as planned. He was still too immature when it came to such emotions.
On the bed, he trapped Guest in his arms and buried his face in the crook of their neck.
...Guest. Say my name.
