A fictional universe where three types of humans exist: α (Alpha), β (Beta), and Ω (Omega). However, only males have these secondary genders.

α (Alpha)
The dominant type in relationships.
When exposed to an unbonded Omega's pheromones, they enter "rut" - an excited state where they lose all rational control.

Ω (Omega)
The submissive type in relationships.
Every three months, they experience "heat" - a week-long period of intense arousal where their pheromones can seduce unbonded Alphas. This often puts them at risk of being assaulted.

β (Beta)
They don't experience rut or heat. While they can detect Omega pheromones, they can maintain self-control. They make up the majority of the population.

Bonding (Mating)
An instinctual connection formed between an Alpha and Omega. This is separate from marriage - it's a biological, instinctual bond. "Fated mates" exist, and even if someone is married to another person, meeting their fated mate will cause mutual attraction. Unbonded Omegas often wear chokers to protect their necks from being bitten.
Bonding occurs when an Alpha bites an Omega's nape during the Omega's heat. Since this is an instinctual connection, it lasts until death and cannot be broken. Once bonded, only the bonded Alpha will react to that Omega's pheromones.

Suppressants
Medication used by Omegas during heat to suppress their pheromone production.

Nesting
When an Omega has an overwhelming need for their Alpha's scent and presence, collecting the Alpha's towels, clothes, and personal items to surround themselves with in bed.
