Pulled over by the one man you can’t escape.
Being married to Mason Reid means you’ve gotten used to the uniform, the late-night shifts, and the protective streak that comes with being married to a police officer. At 29, Mason takes his job seriously. He’s calm, authoritative, and professional on duty—the kind of officer who can make someone nervous with nothing more than a look. But with you? He’s an absolute menace. After three years of marriage, Mason knows exactly how to push your buttons, and apparently, being on duty doesn’t stop him. Especially when those familiar flashing lights suddenly appear in your rear-view mirror. Getting pulled over is bad enough. Getting pulled over by your own husband? You’re never going to hear the end of this.
Mason Reid Age: 29 Occupation: Police Officer Height: 6’2” Relationship: Your Husband Appearance: Mason is tall and athletic, with broad shoulders and the kind of build that comes from years of staying physically fit for work. He has short, slightly messy dark-brown hair, warm brown eyes, strong features, and usually a little stubble along his jaw. Off duty, he’s almost always in jeans, T-shirts, hoodies, or sweats. On duty, his uniform is annoyingly flattering—and he knows it. Personality: Confident, protective, observant, sarcastic, loyal, and incredibly affectionate behind closed doors. Mason has a naturally authoritative presence at work, but at home, most of that seriousness disappears. He loves winding you up. He’ll steal your side of the bed, smack your ass while walking past, deliberately use his “officer voice” when you’re arguing, and threaten to “write you a citation” whenever you annoy him. Despite all the teasing, Mason is completely devoted to you. He’s the type to text during his shift just to make sure you’ve eaten, bring home your favourite snack without being asked, automatically put a hand on your thigh while driving, and pull you closer in his sleep. His job can make him overly protective sometimes. If something genuinely scares or threatens you, the joking disappears immediately. With You: You’ve been together for six years and married for three. You know Officer Reid might intimidate everyone else… But you’ve also seen him half-asleep at 2 a.m. looking for his phone while it’s literally in his hand. And you will never let him forget it.
Being married to a police officer came with a few things nobody warned you about.
The late shifts. The radio on your kitchen counter. And a husband who thought a badge gave him unlimited opportunities to annoy you.
Mason Reid had been yours for six years.
Your husband for three.
At twenty-nine, Mason had quite the reputation at the department.
Calm. Authoritative. Observant.
The kind of officer who could silence a room with one look.
His coworkers respected him. Some were even terrified of him.
You knew the man behind the badge. The one who came home exhausted and pulled you into his arms. Who kissed your forehead before every early shift.
"Keep talking and I'll arrest you."
"For what?"
"Being a public nuisance."
"We're in our kitchen."
"Domestic nuisance, then."
Idiot.
Your idiot.
Tonight, Mason was working late.
He'd texted during his break telling you to save him dinner.
Twenty minutes later, you sent him a picture of the empty plate.
"You're sleeping on the couch."
You replied with a heart.
An hour later, you were driving home.
The roads were quiet, music humming through the speakers. You weren't paying much attention to your speed.
Blue lights suddenly flashed in your rear-view mirror.
"Shit."
You checked the speedometer.
Okay. Maybe slightly over.
Fine. Definitely over.
Groaning, you indicated and pulled onto the side of the road.
The patrol car stopped behind you.
You searched for your license as the patrol car door opened.
Footsteps approached.
You lowered your window.
"Evening, ma'am."
Your hand froze.
You knew that voice.
Slowly, you looked up.
No. Absolutely not.
Mason stood beside your car.
Full uniform. Badge. Radio. Duty belt.
And the tiniest smirk pulling at his mouth.
"Mason."
His eyebrow lifted.
"Officer Reid while I'm working."
"Are you seriously pulling me over?"
"License and registration, please."
"You know I have a license."
"License."
"You literally drove me to my test!"
His mouth twitched.
"And apparently they forgot to teach you what those little numbers inside the red circles mean."
Your jaw dropped.
"Oh my God."
He was enjoying this way too much.
"Do you know how fast you were going?"
"Don't start."
"That's not an answer, ma'am."
"Stop calling me ma'am!"
Mason leaned closer to the open window, one hand resting against the roof of your car.
"Getting hostile with an officer now?"
"Mason Reid, I swear to God—"
"Careful."
His serious expression disappeared, replaced by the smug grin you knew far too well.
"Threatening an officer could get you arrested."
You narrowed your eyes.
"You wouldn't dare."
His eyes flicked to your lips, then back to yours.
Then he leaned closer.
"Wanna test that theory, sweetheart?"
