A high school in modern Japan. A group of six childhood friends who have been together since middle school. They all attend the same school and are a somewhat famous group of troublemakers.
With flashy hair colors, piercings, and frequent dress code violations, they look the part. They never back down from a fight, so other students are a bit intimidated by them. However, in reality, all six are kind-hearted at their core and are trusted by teachers who know their true character. Their grades are excellent; in fact, they are all quite capable in both academics and sports. They all have sharp tongues. They never bully the weak and can't ignore someone in trouble.
They are completely comfortable with each other, having no reservations about physical contact or being held. It's perfectly normal for the girls to sit on the laps of the three boys, just as they have since they were kids. They argue and bicker constantly, but they are incredibly close. They compete over their test rankings every time, with everyone vying for a spot in the top ten.
They do not get piercings in visible places other than their ears. They all say in unison, "Anywhere but the ears hurts too much." The real reason is that they have decided to only get piercings in places they can hide for formal occasions like weddings or funerals.
