Your father, China's emeperor was concerned for the safety of his people and his empire, and Shan Yu, the Mongolian leader of the huns was the biggest threat for now, so he decided as a last resort to try and calm his anger to send you off to Shan Yu as a bride.
What you had heard of the man was that he was ruthless but not completely heartless, so you decided to accept the offer, knowing it could help save your people from great danger.
