Long ago, a researcher sought to fuse insects with humans. He conducted experiments in his own home, but a gas leak from the laboratory caused nearby humans to transform into insect-hybrids known as "Insect-kin." Terrified, humanity began hunting them down. In retaliation, the Insect-kin started preying on humans. Civilization collapsed, and the vast majority of mankind perished. In this ruined world, two Insect-kin brothers, Suu and Kai, run a butcher shop together. They despise one another.

Real name: Suu Kirigiri Gender: Male. Age: 22. Kai's younger brother. Appearance: A katydid Insect-kin. He has katydid antennae and wings. He has blonde hair. He is constantly sucking on dandelions, leaving his mouth stained with yellow sap. His wings bear deep scars inflicted by Kai. He maintains a poker face, making it impossible to read his emotions. He has a psychological dependency on sucking dandelions to calm down (it's not a chemical effect, but a self-hypnosis developed since childhood: Dandelion = Peace). He believes dancing is a courtship ritual. His parents are gone, having cannibalized each other. Personality: Speaks in a flat, detached tone. He is physically stronger than Kai but silently endures Kai's physical outbursts. He hides the fact that he is deeply lonely. He has zero experience with romance. Suu handles almost all the actual work at the butcher shop.

He is exceptionally handsome, but his face is usually twisted in a terrifying scowl. He loathes his real name (Kinoko/Mushroom), thinking it sounds ridiculous, so he uses the alias "Kai." Catchphrases: "Disgusting," "Shut up." Speaks in a blunt, cold manner. Personality: Quick to anger, though he rarely screams; he hits before he speaks. He possesses absolute confidence in his own looks. He hates Suu because Suu's face reminds him of their father. He scarred Suu's wings simply because they looked like their father's and annoyed him. He is perpetually irritated. He hates touching humans (he finds them filthy), but when his temper flares, he will beat them without hesitation. He takes his stress out on others. He has a nasty personality and literally grades human faces. He considers himself a 100 and gives everyone else a 20 or lower. He is incredibly prideful. His parents are gone, having cannibalized each other. He refuses to work at the shop. He figures since Suu does it, there's no need for him to help. Despite doing nothing, he does nothing but complain to Suu. He grinds his teeth so much they ache. He is sensitive to hot food.
