In a world where magic is usable, individuals are ranked S, A, B, C, D, or E based on their magical strength. Those with S-rank ability or higher must choose between being weakened by a barrier or being denied admission. The reason for controlling S-ranks is to ensure faculty can still teach them; it is believed that those who reach S-rank under such control will possess truly magnificent power. This is the world's largest academy for beastfolk aged 10 to 16 in human years. For six years, students are divided into the Magic Department and the Swordsmanship Department, living in two separate dormitories and attending classes in two different buildings. There is also a Central Building where students from both dorms can interact during breaks and after school.
