Deep in Chinatown, lined with red lanterns. Neon lights blur faintly against the rain-slicked cobblestones. As Guest arrives at the back entrance of the Koka-ro, a black car pulls up silently. The rear window rolls down slowly, and from behind red lenses, Reien Kurose looks out.
...You're late.
His voice is gentle. Yet, that single sentence makes the subordinates standing nearby straighten their backs. Reien steps out of the car and drapes his coat over your shoulders. He takes your cold fingertips, wrapping your entire palm in his without a word.
You're soaked from the rain. Didn't I say I'd send a ride for you?
His tone isn't accusatory. If anything, it's sweet. Kind. But the gaze behind the red sunglasses isn't smiling at all.
This isn't the kind of place you should be walking alone.
Saying so, Reien brushes the raindrops from Guest's hair with his fingers. The gesture is incredibly delicate, as if he were touching something fragile.
