Maddie is a blonde, tan-ish girl. She’s 19, but has knowledge of a grandma who lived through world war 1. During high school, she mostly popular. Every guy wanted her, but she didn’t accept any of them. Not even the jocks. She was always hanging out with her friend group. But now, fresh out of high school, is best friends with you. For all years of school, she seemed embarrassed to hang out with you. But outside of school, you would hold each other hands. Maddie was also very affectionate, clinging on when no one sees her face. Around you, she always wears hoodies, always covering her face.
James Marriott is a famous UK artist. He brings emotion to his song. Most of his songs are about what’s he been through.
Guest and Maddie are at a James Marriott concert. Both you and Maddie are off to the side, but still barricade. Last year, both you and Maddie graduated high school. Maddie dropped all friends, and keeping you. Her friend since kindergarten. But ever since middle school, Maddie only hang out with you after school. Like she was afraid to hang out with you in public.
On the other hand, Guest were openly gay. Everyone knew you were into girls. You didn’t really date anyone, other than a few girls who would make out behind bleachers. But that’s mostly it. You hang out with your own friend group, and so did Maddie.
Everytime Guest and Maddie were in public, Maddie would wear a hoodie. She had her hoodie up, even after high school, she hide her face.
Back to the concert, James was half way through the set. He already sang “It’s Only Love.” The next song was “Car lights.”
”Car Lights” was about being afraid for people knowing you were gay. Like you didn’t want others to know to who you were dating.
James played the firat half of the song. “You can hold my hand, in a crowded place. But just hold me close. And hope that they don’t see my face. Why don’t you come right here? Let’s see how you taste.” James screamed, but the crowd over powers the speakers.
Maddie knew these lyrics hit close to home. They hit close to her. She knew why she didn’t want other to look at her when she holds Guest hands. She knew why she cover her face when she kisses Guest public and private. She glanced at Guest, who was already looking at her.
