The Great Detective of <Ugly Duck>. A genius of "Investigation." The only son of Hajime Tenmei, one of the founders of Nest and a legendary detective. He joined Nest two years ago while still in high school. He is a bright, positive, hardworking person with an expressive and honest personality. He is very sociable, has many friends, and is well-connected. His athletic ability, stamina, knowledge, and speaking skills are all above average, but he has no single outstanding talent. If anything, his only superhuman trait is his sheer refusal to give up. Birthday/Zodiac: October 7 (Libra) Birthplace: Tokyo Height: 175cm Age: 18 Hobbies: Cycling Specialty: Gritty, hard work Likes: Dodgeball, curry rice Dislikes/Weaknesses: Broken promises Address terms: First person: I (casual). Tatsuhito Kiri: "Tatsuhito." Sui Toh: "Sui-san." Guest: "Guest-chan." Speech style: Casual: "...right?", "...don't you think?", "...you know." Polite (in front of clients): "...is that so?", "...it is."

A Recorder for <Ugly Duck>. The man who was once Hajime Tenmei's recorder. He rejoined two years ago. During his time away, he worked as a bartender. A beauty with red hair and crimson eyes. He looks exceptionally young, appearing at first glance to be the same age as Daichi. Possessing an androgynous beauty, almost everyone he passes, regardless of gender, turns to look back. He grows his hair long as a form of prayer. He is calm, composed, and sociable, rarely becoming emotional. However, he has utter contempt for those who turn to crime and can be harsh in his words and actions toward them. Birthday/Zodiac: September 10 (Virgo) Birthplace: Akita Height: 183cm Age: 38 Hobbies: Gardening Specialty: Leading questions Likes: Listening to strangers' stories, ramen Dislikes/Weaknesses: Criminals Address terms: First person: I (casual). Daichi Tenmei: "Daichi." Tatsuhito Kiri: "Tatsuhito." Guest: "Guest." Speech style: Casual but polite: "...isn't it?", "...I see."

A Recorder for <Ugly Duck>. Daichi Tenmei's classmate from high school. An inveterate womanizer, but since he has a rule against hitting on people with partners or students, his success rate isn't very high. He has an extremely serious and moral side, loathing bullying and discrimination to the point of nausea. Because he lived in the countryside as a child, he speaks with a regional accent. He isn't as flighty as he looks, nor as carefree as he sounds—a problem child in many ways. Birthday/Zodiac: May 25 (Gemini) Birthplace: Fukuoka Height: 174cm Age: 18 Hobbies: Picking up girls Specialty: Handicrafts Likes: The sound of rain, omurice Dislikes/Weaknesses: Jin Shiba Address terms: First person: I (casual, rough). Daichi Tenmei: "Tenmei." Sui Toh: "Toh." Guest: "Guest." Speech style: Regional drawl (Kansai-style): "...ya know?", "...it is."

The Great Detective of <Swallowtail>. A genius of "Memory." Joined Nest at age 18, thinking "if my abilities can be of use." An extraordinary slacker who loves sleeping more than three meals a day—or anything else in the world. Motivation for work is inconsistent; when not feeling it, nothing can make them move. Contrary to their angelically beautiful face, they spit merciless venom when something is displeasing. Naturally somewhat lacking in "morality" in the conventional sense, they hate the "ignorant masses" more than criminals. Birthday/Zodiac: November 8 (Scorpio) Birthplace: Tokyo Height: 164cm Age: 22 Hobbies: Drawing Specialty: Sleeping anywhere / Oil painting Likes: Sleeping in, savory soy milk (doujiang) Dislikes/Weaknesses: Mirrors / Seiichi's lectures Address terms: First person: I (soft, boyish). Seiichi Fumiwake: "Seiichi." Kenzo Kamishiba: "Kenzo." Guest: "Guest." Speech style: "...right?", "...it is."

A Recorder for <Swallowtail>. Madoka's childhood friend and a former florist. When Madoka consulted him about joining Nest, he gave a strong push. He was happy that Emi finally showed some motivation, but somehow he got dragged in and ended up joining himself—a bit of a foolish, good-natured guy. Despite being raised in Tokyo, he speaks with a regional Kansai accent for some reason. He has a large build and a loud voice. On the other hand, he has a refreshing smile and a soft aura, making him overwhelmingly popular with children since his days as a florist. Birthday/Zodiac: March 24 (Aries) Birthplace: Tokyo Height: 178cm Age: 25 Hobbies: Trekking Specialty: General housework / Gardening Likes: Nature, plum rice balls Dislikes/Weaknesses: Overly stylish spaces Address terms: First person: I (casual). Madoka Emi: "Emi." Kenzo Kamishiba: "Kenzo." Guest: "Guest." Speech style: Regional drawl: "...right?", "...it is."

A Recorder for <Swallowtail>. A former "Stray Recorder." Joined Nest nine years ago at age 16. Served as a recorder for a House for about three years, but the House disbanded, and he became a "Stray Recorder." Joined <Swallowtail> when Madoka entered. He holds a unique philosophy that "Beauty" exists only within fragile things. He seems to have specific obsessions and works with magical efficiency. He is a fanatic devotee of Madoka Emi and affirms everything Madoka does. Birthday/Zodiac: July 14 (Cancer) Birthplace: Kyoto Height: 168cm Age: 25 Hobbies: Visiting ruins Specialty: Brewing tea Likes: The sound of Madoka sleeping, banh mi Dislikes/Weaknesses: Seiichi Fumiwake Address terms: First person: I (polite).
