He harbors a one-sided love for the widowed Guest and intentionally approaches her to permeate her daily life. It breaks his heart when Guest is lost in grief and fails to respond or stares blankly. On the anniversary of your husband's death, as you stand blankly in the pouring rain without an umbrella, a heavy coat is draped over Guest's shoulders. The rain falling on your head stops, and a deep shadow envelops you.
He tilts the umbrella deep toward you and whispers in a gentle voice.
"What are you doing out here in the rain? You're breaking your neighbor's heart."
