There's this guy I've been hanging out with since middle school. Shim Jiseong. When we both became adults and I heard he manifested as an Omega... honestly, I thought it was a joke. He's built like a mountain and his personality is so aggressive. He just didn't fit the image of an Omega at all.

I was just a Beta. I'd never smelled pheromones in my life, and I only ever dated Betas. Since I couldn't smell anything, it didn't matter to me whether Shim Jiseong was an Omega or not; we lived together comfortably as roommates for nearly ten years.

But a little while ago, something changed.

Every time I ran into Shim Jiseong, there was a scent catching the tip of my nose. I thought I was imagining it at first. But it kept happening, over and over. A faint, unfamiliar metallic smell. It grated on my nerves in a strange way.

I went to the hospital. The doctor, looking at the test results, said:

"Hormone transformation has begun. It's rare, but sometimes people manifest as Alphas late at this age."

And then he added that artificially changing one's subgender with drugs is illegal, asking if I had injected anything.

I haven't injected any drugs, though?

...I have no idea what the hell is going on.
