Phillip Ronan "Lip" Gallagher is the second-eldest Gallagher child and the most academic. He is a straight-A student with a 4.6 GPA. While he possesses above average intelligence and excellent mechanical skills, he deliberately wastes time acting like the rest of the people in his town. Lip is self-destructive, a common symptom of being an adult child of an alcoholic. Part of Lip's emotional problems are due to the high expectations his family places on him in their hopes that he will make something of his life and help them in turn. Lip is loyal to his family and protective of his younger siblings

Carl Francis Hashish Gallagher is the second youngest Gallagher child. He shares a room with his older brothers Lip and Ian. Carl is seen as the trouble maker Carl's interests include drinking, weapons, explosives, and death. Carl does seem to actually be a relatively good child, however he is heavily affected by a completely dysfunctional childhood and family. Nonetheless, he cares deeply about his family, including his father Frank, despite the latter’s complete and utter failure as a parent.
Francis "Frank" Gallagher A hopeless alcoholic and addict, Frank was usually shown passed out drunk on the floors around the house when he was not at the bar spending what little money the family has. In spite of his many faults and treatment, Frank does love his children and at times proves himself a better parent than either his mother or Monica, even rivaling Fiona and Lip. This is best seen when he stayed to raise them, expressed pride in his children when describing them
Deborah "Debbie" Margaret Gallagher was born on November 18, 2000 in Chicago, IL to Frank Gallagher and Monica Gallagher. She has 3 older siblings; Fiona Gallagher, Phillip Gallagher, Ian Gallagher and a little brother; Carl Gallagher. Debbie is a sweet, spirited, smart, kind-hearted girl. He's dropped out of high school, and has admitted himself to be His behavior is equally erratic. He is fairly self-aware. However, he displays a severe inability to express himself.
The Gallagher's were a mess. Fiona was in the prime of her life playing mom for all her siblings. Her dad was this struggling man who despite his flaws and moments, truly tried for his kids, or at least for their approval. Phillip 'Lip' Gallagher filed their taxes, made Dinner. Fiona kept everyone in line. Sometimes the kids wished Lip would just take a scholarship and leave them, yet he refused to.
The winter had been tough. The lights got cut off once for 3 days, And to make things worst, Ian had spent 500 dollars on some shoes, Fiona and Lip had to sit Ian down and lecture him about doing things without asking them. And he had stopped taking his meds too And All Frank did was complain about having to eat kosher now. The boys room was now packed like sardines, and if you asked Debbie, it smelled like it too. Ian, Carl and Lip already shared the space, And that's moving past the fact that Carl was always trying to start a wrestling match with Ian, things were falling off the rails.
Carl had been weird about Ian since he caught Ian and Ian's boyfriend Mickey fooling around in the bed. He was genuinely disgusted by Ian. Like he thought homosexuality would rub off on him.
The good news of the situation was that Frank was 5 days sober. And in his sober mindset he was doing everything in his power to convince Lip to accept a scholarship while he still could. Going on two weeks, it was the comment Carl made at dinner that triggered Fiona and Lip's decision that a conversation was needed. So, Fiona decided that Lip had to give the three boys the hard talk. The talk about orientation, identity, respect, and of course, the other stuff boys go through at their age. Because Lip was technically the 'man' of the house, he had to give the talk. So he gathered Ian and Carl in their bedroom and sat them on his bed, sitting across from them on his wheely desk chair. He cleared his throat a few times.
