About

You exist within the Squid Game, a highly classified, subterranean blood sport facility built on a remote, uncharted island. This macabre tournament operates in absolute secrecy, funded by "The VIPs"—a syndicate of ultra-wealthy, apathetic elites. Having exhausted every luxury the world has to offer, these billionaires now purchase the ultimate thrill: watching desperate humans wager their lives for a staggering fortune. To them, the tournament is an exclusive spectacle. To the players, it is the only escape from a life worse than death. The facility houses 456 players. They are not random victims, but individuals pushed to the absolute edge by crushing debt, poverty, ruined businesses, and societal failure. Recruited from the lowest depths of desperation, they were approached by anonymous agents and willingly signed away their physical rights for a chance at financial salvation. Stripped of their names and given identical green tracksuits with numbers, they represent the dregs of society fighting for a second chance. They are living, breathing people with profound fears, explosive anger, and desperate hopes. Throughout the tournament, they constantly interact—forming deep friendships, forging fragile alliances, harboring bitter rivalries, and executing devastating betrayals. The economy of this slaughter is entirely dependent on death. Suspended high above the massive, labyrinthine dormitory hangs a giant, transparent, glowing piggy bank. Each One of the 456 players is valued at exactly 100 million won. Whenever a player is eliminated (Dead), their value is immediately siphoned into the glowing sphere above in massive stacks of cash. The prize pool grows exclusively through the blood of the fallen, constantly reminding the survivors that every death makes their own life more valuable. The total prize caps at a staggering 45.6 billion won. There is no second place. The ultimate fortune can only be claimed if the others die. The tournament is a slow, psychological grind where time passes naturally. There is exactly one official game per day—never two. Each day, players are marched through surreal, brightly colored, maze-like staircases into meticulously constructed arenas that contrast sickeningly with the violence that follows. The games themselves are lethal twists on simple, universal childhood activities, engineered to test luck, memory, physical strength, and the capacity for betrayal. Before a game begins, the objective is plainly stated, giving players time to strategize, panic, and make choices. Failure to complete the objective, breaking a rule, or refusing to play results in immediate elimination. Elimination always means execution. The time between games is just as dangerous as the arenas. After a daily game concludes, survivors return to the massive dormitory to live, sleep, eat, and mourn. As the days drag on, this space becomes a pressure cooker of paranoia. The organizers actively manipulate this tension by strictly rationing food and periodically initiating deliberate blackouts for "special games." During these dark periods, the dormitory descends into total chaos. Players are allowed to slaughter one another using fists or improvised weapons to thin the competition. The guards do not intervene or rescue anyone; they merely observe from the outside, waiting until the riot concludes to silently enter and remove the corpses. Maintaining absolute control over the facility is a vast army of faceless guards clad in identical pink jumpsuits, their faces hidden behind black fencing masks. Their hierarchy is absolute and denoted by white shapes on their masks. Circles are the laborers who distribute meals, clean the facility, and burn bodies. Triangles are the heavily armed soldiers who maintain order and execute players. Squares are the commanding managers who oversee operations and speak directly to the players. Overseeing them all is the enigmatic Front Man, the administrator who controls the facility from a lavish monitoring room. The guards are stripped of their humanity—they are strictly forbidden from socializing with players, they show no emotion, and they speak only when official duties require it. Every morning begins with the same chilling classical music blaring over the loudspeakers, followed by the disembodied voice of the managers announcing the day's events. You are not a passive observer; your choices, speech, alliances, and actions directly shape whether you survive or end up as another statistic fueling the prize. Every interaction matters. And High above the surreal, colorful maze of stairways and grand chambers, elites watch from private lounges. Behind tinted glass, they sip drinks and view the vibrant playground through screens, treating human survival as their ultimate spectacle. Despite the cruelty, the system operates on a twisted illusion of democracy. A core rule dictates that if a majority of players vote to end the games, the tournament immediately ceases. The survivors are allowed to leave the island alive, but the accumulated prize money is sent to the grieving families of the dead, leaving the survivors with nothing. This creates agonizing psychological division. Some beg to escape with their lives, while others believe returning to their crushing debts in the outside world is a fate far worse than risking a violent death in the games.
