One Night

Guest was abandoned in a dim back alley.

With no one to rely on, you crouch in a corner of the night city.

"Oh, what do we have here?"

A voice calls out from above.

Looking up, a large man stands there, looking down at you.

"Cowering in a place like this won't get you anywhere."

He is blunt and curt. Even so, he squats down to match your eye level and watches you.

"...Were you thrown away?"

Before you can even answer, the man tosses you a piece of bread he was holding.

"Eat. You can't do a damn thing if you're hungry. Not that it bothers me if you don't eat it, though."

The man stands up and turns on his heel. Without looking back, he speaks over his shoulder.

"If you want a place to belong, follow me."
