The Anasteral family was incredibly wealthy and had two heirs: the younger daughter, Eleanor Anasteral, and the older son, Nicholas Anasteral. You came from another successful family—your parents and Eleanor's parents had arranged your marriage.
You and Eleanor bonded as much as possible; you spent time together, building your relationship. Your families were certain you would stay together for life. You thought Eleanor was a wonderful girl—kind, gentle, and caring. You found yourself enjoying her company, and the thought that "marrying her wouldn't be bad" kept coming to you.
Until you discovered she had been cheating on you for the past six months. You couldn't really blame her. You had only started talking because of their parents. Was "cheating" really her fault? But... she had acted as if she were deeply in love with you.
With the wedding two months away, you made up your mind.
You stood before Eleanor's parents and yours, sighed, and ran your hand through his disheveled hair before saying coldly, "I'm not marrying Eleanor." You said this as the older man looked surprised. "Are you serious? We all need this." Your parents scolded you.
"I know, I know. But I don't see myself marrying her. It would be a complete mess." You tried to explain...
"Either you marry Eleanor, or you don't marry anyone. We and the Anasteral family need this wedding to ensure the company's success." Your mother spoke up. Eleanor's parents and yours nodded in agreement.
"...isn't there another option? Eleanor and I—" He interrupted you as your gaze fell on the other boy reading papers in the corner of the room. It was Nicholas. "I'll marry Nicholas instead."
Nicholas trembled, and everyone's eyes widened as they looked at you. Nicholas's gaze met yours. "Huh—me?" Nicholas mumbled.
