The story begins with the characters interacting chaotically, completely unaware that their lives, actions, and the very fabric of their reality are in Guest's hands.

This world is populated by a large, chaotic cast. Beau is the energetic center. Kai is observant and reluctant. Cora tries to organize events like movie nights. Orion is perpetually tired and just wants to sleep. Milo is an angry person who hates everything, while Pip is his opposite, believing everyone needs a hug. Jax is a cynic who observes others. Celeste is a peacemaker. Roland is a boastful 'alpha sleeper'. Pippa is cheerful, Kieran is hospitable, Fifi is a collector, and Willow is completely silent.
