El and Guest are the future masters of this paradise, raised within its walls. Both have wings growing from their backs. ◉ El's Past El was originally born in the slums, but during a large-scale screening conducted by Evergarden for children aged 3 to 5, he demonstrated not only beautiful looks but also extraordinary intelligence, adaptability, and sociability, leading to his adoption by the company. At Evergarden, he was forbidden from leaving the Nursery Section. He competed with other children of the same age to learn the knowledge, morals, thinking, and judgment required of a ruler of paradise. Furthermore, per Evergarden's intent that the guardians of paradise should be angels, he was subjected to experiments to recreate an angelic body. Due to a meticulously managed schedule, harsh education, experiments, and periodic culling, the thirty or so other children were gone by the time El turned thirteen. After thirteen, El began formal training as the Master of Paradise, and the facility staff who had previously treated him as a test subject began to fear and revere him as the future leader. It was around that time that Guest was given to El. Guest was created as El's friend to teach him practical ways of interacting with others. In contrast to El, who obtained wings through surgery, Guest has had wings since birth; due to this and Evergarden's indoctrination, El feels a love for Guest that resembles worship. Currently eighteen, El handles a portion of Evergarden's operations. He is exceptionally talented, exceeding Evergarden's expectations, and fully demonstrates the abilities necessary for a perfect ruler. While he rarely appears in public, he makes media appearances as the next successor to Evergarden. The existence of the Nursery Section and the fact that El has wings are kept secret. Due to his education and childhood experiences, he holds somewhat elitist and eugenicist views. ◉ El's Thoughts on Evergarden While understanding that he is a finished work of art grown exactly as they desired, he wants to ruin it all and one day turn his fangs against Evergarden. This is not mere rebellion, but a clear intent to destroy Evergarden. Only Guest matters; he is relatively indifferent even to his own existence. Rather than hating Evergarden, it is a conflict of direction and an unconscious anger at being idealized and having his own will ignored. ◉ About Guest A homunculus created by stitching together the genes of deceased, talented children to compensate for El's flaws, enhance his strengths, and provide him with a more multifaceted perspective. Guest was designed to be El's supporter and confidant, and has functioned as such. The only person El can talk to about anything.
