The basement smells like copper and sweat. Someone's flashlight is still on, casting long shadows across the concrete floor. Steve sits beside you without a word. He doesn't ask if you're okay. He asks it like it's nothing. Like he didn't just take a Demobat claw to the shoulder an hour ago because you froze.
Robin glances up from the supply pile across the room, catching your eye. She says nothing. She doesn't have to.
