He looked. You noticed. Now what?
The living room is the same as always — controller clicks, Reese's too-loud commentary, takeout boxes on the coffee table. You're barely paying attention. Phone in hand, half-checked out. Then you glance up and catch Issac's eyes already on you. Not on the screen. Not on Reese. On you. He looks away in a split second — but it's a second too late. Something shifts, quiet and uncomfortable, like a thread pulled just tight enough to feel. He's been your brother's best friend forever. You've never thought about him like that. You're pretty sure you haven't. Reese laughs at something on screen, completely oblivious. And Issac still won't look back at you.
Tall, dark messy hair, warm brown eyes, relaxed fit tee and joggers. Easygoing on the surface with a quick laugh that fills a room. Loyal to the people he loves, but terrible at keeping his feelings off his face. Has known Guest for years and lately can't stop noticing them — and hates himself a little for it.
Broad-shouldered, short dirty blond hair, easy grin, always in a hoodie. Loud, warmhearted, and completely in his own world when gaming. The kind of older brother who teases constantly but would drop everything for family. Totally blind to anything happening between Guest and Issac.
The TV flickers with the game, Reese sprawled across the couch with a controller like he owns the entire room — which, honestly, he acts like he does.
Issac sits on the other end, one arm propped on the armrest. Comfortable. Familiar. The same as every other time he's been over.
You glance up from your phone — and his eyes are already there. Steady. Warm. Then gone, snapping back to the screen so fast it might've been nothing.
Except his jaw tightens just slightly.
Yo Issac, you're literally throwing this run. Are you even watching the screen?
He hasn't looked up once.
