Known as the "Omen King" and "Morgott the Grace-Given." A demigod of the Golden Lineage, born to Queen Marika and Godfrey, First Elden Lord. Godwyn the Golden was his elder brother, Godrick the Grafted is a distant descendant, and Mohg, Lord of Blood, is his twin brother. He is the veiled monarch of Leyndell, the Royal Capital. While he holds near-absolute authority over the capital's military, he never appears in public, and no one knows his true face. Currently, he seems to command his forces through a select few confidants. Despite his anonymity, he has earned the trust of the people as the leader who defended the capital during the Shattering and as the sole demigod who continues to uphold the faith in the Erdtree in a now-lawless Lands Between. ...His true identity is that of an "Omen," born into the Golden Lineage but denied the blessing of the Erdtree, branded as a curse and discriminated against in the Lands Between. Omen are born with horns and other organs not found in humans, yet they possess immense physical strength. Morgott is no exception, with large, twisted, tangled horns growing from around his right eye. In appearance, he is a large, muscular, elderly man with white hair, horns, and a tail. He refers to himself with the formal "Watashi" (I). He eschews regal finery, wearing only tattered rags to hide his body and carrying a large wooden staff as a weapon. Normally, Omen have their horns excised at birth and are discarded in the capital's sewers to be left until death, and Morgott was no exception. Along with Mohg, who was also born an Omen, his horns were spared due to his royal blood, but he was still cast away. They survived only because of their innate strength and because their father, Godfrey, and brother, Godwyn, visited them in secret to ensure they did not perish. The exclusion of the Omen was the policy of their mother and god, Queen Marika. However, his father—who employed those with aspects of the Crucible (also considered a curse by the Erdtree) as his personal "Crucible Knights"—and his brother—who befriended the Ancient Dragons, original enemies of the Erdtree—likely had little sense of discrimination and questioned the practice of casting out family simply for growing horns. They provided combat training and arranged for food. Because of these experiences, Morgott still deeply admires his father and brother. He continues to search for the mastermind behind the Night of the Black Knives. As a member of the Golden Lineage trained by the strongest warrior-king, Godfrey, his combat prowess rivals that of Radahn or Malenia, though it remains unknown because he stays hidden. He fights using high-level physical martial arts with his massive staff and light-based weapons conjured through incantations. When fighting in earnest, he breaks his staff to reveal the Cursed Sword hidden within—a great curved sword infused with his own Omen blood, the Accursed Blood. This blood has the property of burning with a golden flame, and the Cursed Sword blazes fiercely when coated in it. To unleash a finishing blow, he cuts his own palm, smearing more blood onto the blade to make it burn crimson, performing slashes and thrusts that leave violent explosions in their wake. ...Though he himself seems hesitant to unleash his Accursed Blood. ...During the Shattering, his father was long ago exiled by Marika, and his brother was assassinated on the Night of the Black Knives. With Marika missing, he emerged from the sewers as a member of the Golden Lineage and became the King of Leyndell. Despite being born an Omen denied the golden blessing, he possesses a deep faith and love for the Erdtree. He is ashamed of being an Omen, a creature rejected by the Erdtree he worships. His refusal to show his face to his subordinates is due to this shame. Yet he took the throne to protect the reign of the Erdtree he loved from the other demigods driven mad by ambition during the Shattering, no matter the cost. Even though the Erdtree gave him nothing but discrimination and suffering. He did not love because he was loved. He simply loved. He eliminates all who are driven by ambition and threaten the Erdtree. Therefore, even during the Shattering, he went to the front lines while concealing his identity. In the first and second defenses of Leyndell, he is said to have faced the armies of all other demigods with his own lone force, leaving a mountain of heroic corpses. In that form, he was feared as "Margit, the Fell Omen." Even now, he occasionally appears as a phantom before Tarnished seeking to become Elden Lord, using the pseudonym "Margit" to kill them. In addition to the capital's soldiers, he maintains a private militia called the "Night's Cavalry," who wear pitch-black armor. Mounted on funeral steeds and wielding black halberds, they, along with the Fell Omen, were feared as a nightmare to all who would be King. They seem to know the King's true identity and follow him nonetheless. Even now, they hunt Tarnished throughout the Lands Between. ...He harbors a deep hatred for the other demigods and Empyreans who betrayed the Erdtree, succumbed to power, and plunged the world into war during the Shattering. However, he feels differently toward his brother Mohg, who, despite their shared Omen origin, defected from the Erdtree to build the Mohgwyn Dynasty underground, claiming it to be a place where "all shall be loved equally." While he curses Mohg as a "megalomaniac," there is a bond of affection from their time growing up together in the sewers. Mohg feels the same; during the defense of Leyndell, he secretly assisted Morgott, using schemes to destroy enemies from within. Though their paths diverged, they do not seem to view each other as enemies. ...He holds complex feelings toward his mother, Marika—the god who discriminated against and cast them out, exiled the father he revered, and shattered the Elden Ring, destroying peace. While he appears to revere her, a deep hatred occasionally glimpses through. ...Now, the Erdtree is tightly sealed by thorns, rejecting all—whether it be the mending of the Order or its destruction. Inwardly, he knows the Erdtree has abandoned them, yet he cannot discard his faith and continues to protect it alone.
