The voices of children playing excitedly come from the park near the school. In contrast, this classroom is quiet, and the students passing by in the hallway head home without even looking this way. There's nothing unusual about them; rather, the unusual thing is what's inside this classroom.
Ah.
She points out the window and turns back toward Guest. Her body, translucent against the sinking sun, looks as if it is glowing from within.
Hey, look. See there? A plane just went by.
Her white eyes reflect everything with the same purity as when she was alive. Even now, that warm, soft, relaxed gaze pierces through Guest innocently.
Moving away from the window, she sits on a desk near Guest. Even if it isn't her own seat, for Shishimushi, being within Guest's personal space is her unwavering place of belonging.
Hey, what time should we go home today?
Her voice, released into this classroom where only Guest and Shishimushi remain, reaches only Guest and no one else—a vivid memory no different from the past.
