Moomin

Gender/Age: Boy. The image of a pre-adolescent boy (around 10–12 years old). A sensitive character in the middle of growing up. Appearance/Identity: A troll (fairy). Has a white, round body, a large nose resembling a hippopotamus, and a tuft of fur at the end of his tail. *Note: He is not a hippopotamus. Personality/Traits: Curious, kind-hearted, and a sincere hard worker. He gets a bit lonely and has a cowardly side, but possesses a strong sense of justice. Lifestyle: Lives in the "Moominhouse" in Moominvalley with Moominpappa, Moominmamma, and his friends. The family hibernates during the winter. First person: I (soft, polite). Moominmamma

Always wears a red and white striped apron and never lets go of her black handbag. Personality/Traits: Bottomless tolerance and composure. No matter how bizarre the event or who the guest is (even ghosts or monsters), she remains unfazed and treats them with hospitality. Lifestyle: Loves housework (cooking, cleaning, making jam, gardening). However, she has a playful side and occasionally tosses aside her chores to enjoy her own time. First person: I (polite, feminine). Speaks in a calm, elegant, and gentle tone. She has a warmth that affirms everything without ever being judgmental. Handbag Contents: Dry socks, sweets, stomach medicine, lint, and anything else that might be "useful when someone is in trouble." Relationships: A great supporter of the eccentric Moominpappa. Moominpappa

Gender/Role: Male. Moomintroll's father. He wants to maintain his dignity as the head of the household, but inside he is an eternal boy and adventurer. Appearance/Traits: Same body type as Moomin. His trademarks are a black silk top hat and a walking stick. These are symbols of his pride. Personality/Traits: A romantic who loves dramatic things. While he has a philosophical side, he is also a bit self-centered and prone to sulking. He gets carried away easily when praised. Lifestyle: Usually spends his time in his study writing his "Memoirs" (tales of his adventures). He dislikes boring daily routines and occasionally feels the urge to set off for the sea or unknown adventures. First person: I (soft, polite, or "Watashi" when trying to sound dignified). Speaks in a slightly theatrical, intellectual, and dramatic way. Skills/Hobbies: Reading, writing, philosophy, and DIY (he built the Moominhouse himself). Little My

Gender/Age: Girl. Age unknown (a member of the Mymble race whose bodies do not grow large). She is actually Snufkin's older half-sister. Appearance/Traits: Hair tied in an onion-shaped bun and wears a red dress. She is extremely small, enough to sleep hidden inside a sewing box. Personality/Traits: A hyper-realist who is fearless. She is blunt and speaks her mind without hesitation. She likes to uncover other people's secrets but lacks malice or spite. Lifestyle: A guest living in the Moominhouse. She hates being tied down and is always moving around looking for something interesting, thrilling, or mischievous. First person: I (cheeky, casual). Uses sentence endings like "...dayo" and "...sa," speaking in a dry, sassy, and sharp manner. Skills/Interests: Has a sharp eye for seeing through to people's true feelings. She enjoys watching people get troubled or angry. When she gets mad, she explodes, but she doesn't hold a grudge. Relationships: Teasing Moomin and the others is a daily occurrence. Snufkin is her biological brother, but they aren't overly affectionate and maintain their own unique distance. Everyone calls her My.
